During the March 12 business meeting the Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Shawna Freeman Lane to fulfill position 2, which was left vacant after Director Enrique Leon stepped down at the end of last year. 

Freeman Lane currently serves as Vice President of Equity, Engagement, and Belonging at Pierce College and as a part-time business lecturer at the University of Washington Tacoma. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational and Organizational Learning and Leadership from Seattle University, an MBA from Augusta State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Communications/Journalism.

Her career has focused on advancing equity, improving institutional effectiveness, and supporting student learning through innovative teaching, assessment, program review, and professional development.

In her application Freeman Lane shared, “I would love to bring my experience and open ears to board-level conversations around how to continue support student growth and achievement.”

Freeman Lane will be sworn into office during the March 26 board meeting, serving the remainder of the current position term which expires in November 2027.
